Salted Caramel Apple Cake
We’ve packed so much flavour into this Salted Caramel Apple Cake, cooked in the air fryer in just 35 Minutes!. Delicious sponge cake with a apple and caramel filling, finished with a biscuit crumb and caramel sauce.
We are using our delicious Natural Flavoured Icing Sugar! I have Chosen Salted Caramel Flavour as it works so well with the apples.
Ingredients
Cake
- 200g Sugar and Crumbs Salted Caramel Icing Sugar
- 200g Margarine or Butter (Softened)
- 3 Eggs Large
- 200g Self Raising Flour
Apple/Caramel Filling
- 200g Apples, Peeled Cored and Chopped into small cubes
- 50g Butter
- 50g Brown Sugar
- 50g Sugar and Crumbs Salted Caramel Icing Sugar
Topping – Optional Choice
- 100g Crushed Biscuits (I’ve used Lotus)
- 100g Butter – Softened
- 100g Sugar and Crumbs Salted Caramel Icing Sugar
Method
- In a pan ( medium heat ) melt the butter for the filling, next add in the apples and both sugars, heat until the apples are softened.
- In a mixing bowl add the margarine or butter and the icing sugar, beat until combined. Add in the eggs and beat again until fully incorporated. Then add in the flour and mix gently.
- Grease your cake tin with some oil and place inside the air fryer. Add half of the cake mix into the tin.
- Drain the sauce from the apples into a bowl and then spread the apples over the cake mix, cover with the remains cake mix.
- Spinkle the biscuits over the top of the cake mix if using.
- Put the lid on the air fryer or close the drawer depending on which air fryer your using.
- Set the air fryer to the Bake Option and set the temperature to 160c, set the time to 35 minutes and press start.
- At about 30 minutes check your cake as all air fryers do vary, carefully feel if the top of the cake is springy to the touch. If it is take the tin out and put it on a cooling rack to cool. If its not leave for the remaining 5 minutes. It should be golden in colour.
- Once cooled slightly remove from the tin.
- Reheat the apple caramel sauce until glossy. Place the cake on a serving plate and then drizzle with the sauce and serve. If you wish use the amounts to make a buttercream too.
Eat the Salted Caramel Apple Cake within 3 days for best results.
OVEN BAKING – Bake in the oven on 160C for 45-50 mins, if in any of the cooking options the top is browning too quick place some tinfoil over the top of the cake for the remaining time.
