This recipe for Crusting Buttercream – Just Flavour is easy to make, requires only 3 ingredients and is a perfect filling/covering for cakes!
Crusting buttercream is a filling/covering made from icing sugar, flavouring, and butter. Once made, this buttercream will form a crust if left at room temperature. Crusting buttercream is both delicious and easy to make and use.

1. Beat 250g room temperature butter until light.
2. Add 500g icing sugar and 5g of Just Flavour, chop the icing sugar into the butter before you mix to avoid a cloud of icing sugar. Turn on the mixer to slow, building up to full speed, then beat for 20 seconds.
*Please note if you use cream or milk you will need to use your buttercream within 24 hours or keep refrigerated.
Condensed milk is a preservative, and will not reduce the life of your buttercream.
To colour your buttercream you can use Gel colours, water activated colours, or cocoa colours. When using Gels or cocoa colours, add a little at a time until you reach the desired shade. When using water activated colours, give the powder a spritz with cool boiled water to activate the pigments.
